Akira
Akira is a 1988 Japanese animated film co-written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. The film is based on the manga of the same name. It's set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic Tokyo in 2019 called Neo-Tokyo . Most of the characters and settings were adapted from the original 2,000+ page epic manga. The movie was restructured and differs considerably from the original manga. They pruned much of the last half of the story. Akira is regarded by critics as one of the greatest animated films ever made.
